If you do banking online, or other delicate things, and believe that you're secure just 'cause that browser says the site is secure ('cause it's got some little lock showing someplace), then you're ready for that funny farm in the sky. It's secure only from the access point. And hopefully from that point on.
So what should you do? Well for one thing, you can come on down and join me on the patio by the office (our internet resource center, as I like to call it), chat a while, and physically hook in directly to our router. Now I know you'd rather be cozy in the comfort of your RV - and who can blame you! Or if you have the right software, enable your WEP or WPA encryption (not always a guarantee) on your computer if that is an available option.
Or look into some encrytion software. Here are a couple of suggestions, neither of which we endorse but we know of many Rvers who use these: go to AnchorFree and download their FREE Hotspot Shield software or go to JiWire and check out their software ($24.95/year). Surf, but be safe!
French Creek RV Park and Campground is equipped with the best Wi-Fi equipment currently available that meets the needs of our park. We transmit our Wi-Fi signal on an 802.11g router at 54 Mbits per second or about 5 times faster than an 802.11b router (11 Mbit/s)!
Furthermore, our router is fed by a DSL line with a potential speed of up to 1.5M download and up to 768k upload to prevent the throughput slowdown associated when multiple RV and camping users are online. I'm barely there, pard. I just hope you're still with me. If you're interested, here is more on Wi-Fi at French Creek RV Park.
